Solís is Research Professor and Executive Director of the Knowledge Exchange for Resilience at Arizona State University. She is the co-founder and director of YouthMappers, a consortium of student-led open mapping chapters that has touched the lives of 62 million people over the past decade through the work of thousands of university students on more than 425 college campuses in 80 countries. Her disciplinary expertise centers on the application of participatory geospatial technologies for sustainable development needs.

She is currently leading a project exploring how undergraduate humanitarian mapping with GeoAI and gaming technology can foster empathy, curiosity, and collaboration as foundations of Principled Innovation, advancing research and education about global climate resilience, especially around how extreme heat impacts people in Arizona, as well as communities in Africa and Asia.
