Dr. Tim Lant is a distinguished expert in mathematical modeling, big data, and actuarial science, renowned for forecasting health outcomes and developing evidence-based solutions for complex health challenges. He concurrently serves as Director of Data Analytics for the ASU Health Observatory. At ASU, Dr. Lant’s work integrates mathematical epidemiology, health equity, and environmental factors.

Previously, as Director of the Division of Analytic Decision Support at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Dr. Lant shaped national public health responses. He led efforts to assess consequences of pandemics and CBRN threats for the Strategic National Stockpile. His leadership included extensive collaboration with the U.S. federal interagency, the White House, and national laboratories.

Dr. Lant holds a Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and a Master of Actuarial Science. He is an expert in emergency management, resource optimization, and modeling and simulation. His work informs a broad spectrum of audiences, including the public, first responders, public health officials, and academic and policy researchers.
