College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

As the College Catalyst for Principled Innovation at ASU’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, I bring a values-driven approach to my work in education and sustainability. My journey with Principled Innovation (PI) began when ASU adopted it as a design aspiration. Intrigued by its emphasis on character and values in decision-making, I saw an opportunity to contribute through my expertise in philosophy and sustainability. Collaborating with Dean Jeffrey Cohen, I integrated PI into The College during the 2023-24 academic year, serving as the Dean’s Fellow in Humanities.

My work, particularly through ASU Farm, reflects my commitment to fostering human well-being and environmental stewardship. ASU Farm’s six focal virtues—Adaptation, Care, Cooperation, Environmental Humility, Environmental Stewardship, and Strong Work Ethic—align closely with all faculty, staff, and students associated with ASU Farm. By creating spaces for students to connect, learn, and thrive, we aim to address urgent issues such as the loneliness epidemic, food insecurity, and mental health crises.

Relationships are central to my personal growth and professional mission. At this stage in my career, I feel a deep responsibility to give back—helping students and colleagues cultivate resilience, empathy, and a sense of purpose. Through Principled Innovation, I aim to inspire meaningful change that strengthens our communities and honors our shared humanity.
